Kedarnath Temple Opening & Closing Dates 2025

The sacred Kedarnath Temple, one of the most significant pilgrimage sites dedicated to Lord Shiva, is set to open for devotees on May 2, 2025, at 7:00 AM. Located in the majestic Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, this ancient shrine is part of the revered Char Dham Yatra and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. The temple remains open only during the summer months due to extreme weather conditions and is expected to close for the season on November 3, 2025 (tentative)

Destination covering: Haridwar-Rudraprag-kedarnath
Day 1
Haridwar to Guptkashi (210Kms / 07 to 08 Hrs).
( Drive 170 Km 5 to 6 Hours)
Arrive in Haridwar and proceed to Guptkashi. Enjoy the scenic journey, passing the Bhagirathi and Mandakini rivers. Check-in at the hotel upon arrival, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2
Guptkashi – Kedarnath
(6kms By Road & 16kms Trek One Way)
Travel to Kedarnath by trekking or opt for a helicopter ride (additional cost). Participate in Puja and Darshan, and experience the evening Aarti at Kedarnath.
Day 3
Kedarnath – Guptkashi (16kms Trek & 06kms By Road).

Begin the day with Puja and Darshan at Kedarnath. After exploring the surrounding areas, return to Guptkashi by trek or helicopter. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4
Guptkashi – Haridwar
(210kms / 07 To 08hrs)
Return to Haridwar, with a stop at Devprayag and Rishikesh along the way. The tour concludes upon arrival in Haridwar.

Travel Tips

  • 1.Thermals, Pair of Gloves, Monkey Cap, Cotton Sweater/Jackets, Sunscreen lotion, Moisturizer, Sunglasses, Comfortable Sports Shoes, Umbrella/Windcheater, Vicks, Camphor, small torch, etc.
  • 2.Asthma & Heart Patients are not advised – Consult your doctor before joining.
  • 3.Carry dark chocolates, dry fruits, Glucose (Glucon D), and toffees. This will provide you instant energy during trekking & long journeys.
  • 4.Carry your Pooja samagri as per your requirement.
  • Follow the instructions of the Tour manager.
  • 5.Do not take pictures if cameras are not allowed in temples.
  • 6.Carry extra batteries for your camera & power banks for your cell phone.
  • 7.Communication: Although all private mobile phones have coverage, Airtel & Jio network is better in most places.
  • 8.Fitness: All pilgrims should be physically fit. It is better to do some jogging and other light exercises to prepare for this journey.
  • 9.For Kedarnath, guests need to carry a small handbag for 1 day’s clothes & your necessary valuables as suitcases cannot be carried up.
  • 10.The approximate charge for one way Doli to Yamunotri shall be Rs. 6500 per person & Kedarnath is Rs. 12,000 per person. However, it can be subject to change due to demand in the area.
  • 11.This is a pilgrimage sector, so don’t keep high expectations in hotels except Haridwar.
